HOW TO STYLE A STRIPED SWEATER AND BRETON KNITS

Stripes are a big part of French fashion. If you want to dress in French classic style, then get your hands on something striped. Traditionally called “la marinière”, it takes inspiration from the French naval uniform and got it’s fashion debut by none other than Coco Chanel.  

Today the “la marinière” is a symbol of French culture and worn by men, women and children alike. When it comes to wardrobe basics, "la marinière" aka the Breton knit is as essential as a black blazer or a good pair of jeans.  Every well thought out wardrobe has one.

A classic yet elegant way to style your Breton knit  is with a pair of white trousers. You really can't go wrong with this look. Not only does it look great but it can be easily accessorized, and dressed up or down at a moment's notice.

Striped sweaters and jeans make for a more casual look. An easy wear whether you're going on a coffee date or out for a bit of shopping.  This outfit can be paired with ballet flats, loafers, boots or your favourite pair of sneakers.
